Read moreAfter serving almost a decade in the CIA, Abigail Spanberger has decided to move on to protecting our Constitution in another way—running for U.S. Congress. After serving as a federal law enforcement officer, she holds the skills that will help diversify student bodies in schools, increase graduation rates, break down barriers to financial education, protect citizens from foreign and domestic security concerns, and try to eliminate the extreme partisan politics that are further dividing the U.S. population.
Abigail was inspired to run after reading a comment online from a friend. Her friend suggested they did not know how they would be able to pay for care for their daughter, who has a degenerative disorder. Her district’s current representative voted in favor of the AHCA.
Abigail holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from a dual degree program offered through the GISMA business school and Purdue University.
Abigail lists many issues that are important to her as she embarks on her journey to the United States Congress: healthcare, jobs, education, national security, civil rights, the environment, veterans, gun violence, social security and Medicare, addressing campaign finance and gerrymandering as well as tackling the opioid epidemic.
